SET DESIGNER WANTED FOR R&D OF ADAPTATION OF TESS OF THE D'URBERVILLES

We are looking for a designer to come on board for two weeks of R&D in autumn 2018 to workshop ideas for a set that can work in both mid-scale traditional theatres and outdoor non-theatre spaces e.g.  National Trust gardens. The fundamentals of the eventual set design will be versatile enough to work for both.  The first week of R&D phase is due to start in Chipping Norton Theatre at the end of September (either week beginning 17th or 23rd TBC, and funding pending). The set designer will attend the R&D part time (exact times to be negotiated). Arts Council funding is currently pending for this project, and we will proceed in line with Equity rates (approximately £474/week pro rata).
Application Process: At this stage we would like to ask designers to apply by email, with a short expression of interest and citing experience, style and giving us a flavour of their work and personality. Please include any relevant links to past work and include CV highlights in the body of the email. Ideally we are looking for candidates with experience of the challenges of designing a set for both indoor and outdoor venues. The deadline for this phase is Sunday 12th of August at 4pm.

Shortlisted applicants from phase 1 will receive a more detailed brief, and ahead of meetings in London on the 17th of August.
Please apply via the contact form on the Boileroom website.
